Football manager scouting tool?

after hearing today chelsea are after Alexandre Pato my star striker in fm2007 i was thinking do football clubs use it for scouting it seems so

these are a few of the players i have sign in the game before i heard about them in real life(ones that became bigish names in the world game)

vincent kompany
Freddy Adu
Tim Howard
kim kallstrom
Dorian Dervite

any more you can think of?

OK here's a question. How do you think the FM / CM developers get the information about these potential stars? And do you not think that maybe the clubs have more and better developed information networks than them?
