    Xbox 360 Bad flash! Help!

Hi guys, I opened up my 360 today to flash my hitatchi with the new iXtreme, all was going well I ran the restore.bat and then distater struck when vista decided to blue screen on me! Arggh!

Now when I boot the 360 i either get to the dashboard but the dvd drive won't eject or I get error code E64 and flashing red 4th quadrant.

I've tried to reflash by booting SLAX for modeb but in windows it seems to recognise the Hitatchi as a floppy drive a:!? I do see the hitatchi in the BIOS though so I know it's connected...

Is there anyway I can get the drive recognised in windows so I can reflash or is it game over for me!?

    Thanks!

Your goosed but maybe not totally. There is no way to reflash a hitachi via pc when it's gone bad...the chip on the drive has to be taken off, programmed in an external programmer and then soldered back. Not for the faint hearted and you'll be best to pay someone to do it for you. There are a few guys that will do it...peeps pop some links in as I cant remem right now.

The next question is do you have the drive key? If you do then great, it can be fixed as above, if you don't then it may be retreivable when then take the chip off but there's no guarantee. Without the drive key there is no way at all it can be fixed.

You see, TheThingIs, eventually you'll be all right!

I'm sorry to be the one to tell you this but your drive is now bricked.
You will need to remove the SST and reprogramme with an external programmer like the Willem, as long as you have a backup orig firmware with correct key.

Oh bugger! I did suspect it was bricked... damn vista!
Slight correction it's not being detected as a floppy drive that was just because my BIOS had reverted to defaults... so it's being detected by my SATA BIOS but nothing in windows (the slax cd see's it but doesnt put it in modeb).

Good news is I do have the was.bin and key.bin from when I last flashed (C4EVA_XTRM-HITACHI_v2_4_Stealth), the bad news is the only external programmer I have is an elvis which i'm guessing is no good?

    m8,

I can do it for you if you want but it's a bitch to do. I've done a few but everytime it scares me to death. Pizzaman unfortunately doesn't do the soldering tho as he's a big scaredy poo and never had a go lol

If you want me to have a go then I'd need just the drive sending to me. On the otherhand you could try someone like these guys:

no mate, you'll need a willem programmer (I THINK mine cost about £45 delivered off ebay (from Hong Kong mind!), but not too sure, I got mine off the same guy Wonka got his!). And you'll also need a pyropen to remove the TSOP! They cost about another £40/45 for a decent Weller one!

All in all it's gonna cost you £80/90 just for the equipment, not worth it if its only gonna be used once or twice!

Sure someone will be able to sort you out! I've got the programmer, but no pyro pen! And wouldn't really want to risk it on someone elses console!

I don't really fancy shelling out on a chip if the drive's dead.... can get a new replacement drive off eBay for £28 delivered, is it easy enough to flash them with my key.bin?

yup you just need Maximus tool box (the newest one that supports iXtreme FW), which will allow you to read the FW off the new drive, patch it with your key, and re-flash the drive with the new FW.

Actually, you dont even need to read the FW from the drive! All you need to do is patch the iXtreme FW with your key, then flash the new drive with the patched iXtreme.bin!

this is not a bad idea if you can get a drive off ebay for 28 quid delivered then put your knackered drive on ebay as someone will buy it prob save you money in long run

Think I might get one off eBay then (even though it's from hong kong!)... can't reflash the chip myself so unless someone wants to have a go for me it's looking like my best option....
