Default Heinze keen to make Man Utd exit

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson says defender Gabriel Heinze wants to leave Old Trafford.
The 29-year-old has been playing in the Copa America for Argentina and he has been linked with moves to Liverpool, Real Madrid, Newcastle and Juventus.

Ferguson said: "Gaby's agent has advised us that he wants to move on.

"I am not too sure about that and we do not have a concrete offer but there is momentum regarding his next move, even if nothing is close right now."

Liverpool have been linked with Heinze for some time and Reds boss Rafael Benitez is believed to have met the £6.8m asking price.

However, Ferguson is not thought to be keen on the former Paris St Germain star joining one of their Premier League rivals.

Heinze will take an extended holiday after Argentina's 3-0 defeat by Brazil in Sunday's Copa America final in Venezuela.

He joined United from Paris St Germain for £6.9m in 2004.

Why do Liverpool have to bring in the lawyers now? You want a player, we don't want to sell, he still has 2 years left on his contract, so fuck off you dipper scum

Need to keep him as cover for injuries along with Brown, O'Shea, Pique, Silvestre, Simpson and Evans. Great player and warrior spirit. Too good for Liverpool.

What? Are you actually impressed that your new left back could be someone who couldn't get into our team last year except when Evra was injured?

Nice to see you guys have ambition.

A great player, and a good addition to our squad as he can cover CB and LB.

I think Ferguson is being a bit of a child over this - like people have said - if he is not good enough to get in the Manc first team, then whats the problem?

You see players moving between the top clubs in Germany, Spain and Italy all of the time.

What is Ferguson doing wrong? He is blocking a geographical rival (not title rival) from buying one of his squad players. Walter Smith should have done exactly the same when Xavier and Barmby wanted to join the RS.

I'm sure 'Shanks' and Paisley would have done the same.

You are correct regarding Italy and Spain...the 2 biggest mercenary leagues in world football where the best players and managers go in one big merry-go-round.Germany; Bayern just seem to buy up their rivals best players.Ferguson is just being a traditional British manager full of pride. Nowt wrong with that.

Obviously Ferguson is panicking and feels the player has something to offer else why not sell to us ?

Then why give said player a written agreement he could move on to another club that offered over £6 million?

He does not want to sell to Liverpool because he is Manchester United through and through

I think when he meant another club it was probably for the likes of Valencia, Milan etc!

Seeing as United 'own' the player, they have the right to flog him (or not as the case may be) to whoever they wish.

thats just a fact, plain and simple.

So to repeat myself - why issue the player a written agreement saying he can leave is someone offers over £6 million?
