Does anyone know if sky went to the perforated dishes for aesthetic or technical reasons?

    Quoted from DigitalSpy

There's no significant difference between perforated and solid as regards either reception efficiency (or wind resistance - before you ask).

Dishes are perforated purely for cosmetic reasons. The holes are so small that Ku-band signals don't pass through (and nor does high-speed wind).
Ooh, ooh, ooh, the funky gibbon.
