Default do three block internet ports ?

    Hi,

I have been trying to get an irc client running on my n80 (via three)

the client works and connects fine via wlan so i know its working but i cannot get any connection via three's network. It's really hard googling for stuff about '3' due to the nature of their name, so i wondered if anyone here had any luck. Are we limited to the web browsing ports etc ?

Any info / links appreciated. i have a shed load of data im not using every month at the moment.

    cheers,

    malty

Dunno if they have changed since I was with them but they used to have almost a walled garden for internet access - you could only view pages they created for you - like their version of the news/sport/music etc..... and not actually surf the web or use msn messenger or any other im client for that matter

You can have full internet access with 3 so that you are not limited to just their services but you have to pay extra for it

scroll down the page to 'Add Internet' there are two options

Somehow I'm guessing 4me2 has already tried that

I used to logon to a forum called aussie3g years ago, there used to be the latest of latest stuff a while ago, but thats now virtually dead, I'm sure the info will be on a forum somewhere, but good luck in the search as I've gotten bored of messing about with my phone at the mo so I dunno where the action is at.

i can browse any web site i like using the built in nokia browser or opera so thats not restricted. I get unlimited free internet on my plan (not unlimited but called so anyway).

I can connect to msn messenger using three's own client but not any 3rd party client, so they are using their own portal for that (msn is free on my plan)

That 'add internet unlimited' described above is what i have as part of my package anyway, so i dont need that. I'd just like to get irc working and cant see any way at the moment.

Maybe i could set up some kind of bouncer on a non blocked port, but i suspect thats not as easy as it sounds

after trying various ports it appears that only port 81 is open for direct outgoing requests. If anyone can suggest any others id appreciate it. 81 gives a 406 : unacceptable response as you would expect, but at least its trying

    cheers
