Red Arrows Orton @ Blackpool

Sunday July 22nd (the wife's birthday).

Went out to Lytham Market, but it was shut - so we went on to Blackpool.

As luck would have it there was a airshow in progress.

In photoshop and Photmatix Pro, I created an HDR image from 3 exposed pics, tonemapped it, then applied an Orton effect to finish off and give it a "painted" look.

Exif: EOS 400D with Sigma 70-300mm lens, ISO 100, and 1/320sec with exposures pushed in PS +1 and -1.5 and normal. Then tonemapped in PM and finally back in PS duplicated the image and added +1 exposure, a high gaussian blur and then blended back on original and reduced opacity to 70%.

you cant beat b.a.e hawk(red arrows)great too see.just bought my self one


£150 full kit.1st flight lasted 2 seconds.lol.strait up then down into the only pool of water in the whole field.twat.just in the middle of rebuilding.always been a fan of the hawk.i got the chance in the 80s to have a flight in a 2 seater trainer.got hooked from then.good shot.loke the affect too

Red arrows always put on a great show, seen them at southport last year and it was amazing, especially when they were flying low. When i was up at my mum and dads in Edinburgh a couple weeks ago they flew right over the house (must of been on the way to leuchars) and they dont half make some noise, you can't beat the sound of a jet ! especially a eurofigher or a tornado lol must be amazing to fly them

That's superb Paul, has a wonderfully surreal feeling to it thanks to the mix of orton + tone mapping, the differnet elements really stand out, most excellent.
