Default FTP skips files on upload...

I've only ever used SmartFTP. When uploading large amounts of files (say a Joomla install) I have always had the problem where a few files get missed and I have to double check what has been uploaded and re-uploaded missing files.

I don't get any error message or server time outs. It's just like some files get skipped in the stream.

Is this FTP in general or should I try another prog? (don't really want to as I really like SmartFTP). I had this problem for years and have just lived with it.

I get similar when I'm using newsgroups for downloads.. files are stated 100% complete on newreader and dl without any errors, till I go to unrar, then it's 'header missing/incorrect' etc. If I dl the same thing on my other pc it was fine, I worked out it was actually the router my first pc was on seemed to fall over switching the data input (Second PC is straight into it's own modem)..I removed router and all was well again.
Also, I find some (Not all) of the older modems can struggle at times with demodulating a lot of high speed data (Moto sb4100 etc.)
