Default Can you "extract" pictures from an exe file?

    Hey

My bro recently got his wedding photos back from the photographer, and on the CD it has a 690mb single exe file.

What I was wondering was is there a way of extraxting/decompiling/decodeing the pictures from inside the exe file?.

I've looked on the web and on the forums but couldn't find an answer

The only thread I found was this one and the dude never reported back.

I don't know what programme he used to do up the file but here is a screenshot of the exe file it created (if it helps anyone)

Have you tried openeing the exe with winzip or failing that winrar? May just be a self extracting archive.

    Cheers Bert.

Though I could be being really stupid here, but when I right click and also when hold shift & right click it does not give me the option to "open with" (I presume this is what you mean?)

    It only gives me:

    Open
    Run As

    Is that what you mean?

    Cheers again!

Just open Winzip and then do a File -> Open and put *.* in and then double click the exe file after you have navigated to the directory it is in.

Its not very slick but if you hit printscreen you will copy the screen to your clipboard, then you can paste them into a graphics prog.

Hey tried that in both Winrar & Winzip and it said that it could not extract as it was not a zip file & then asked if I wanted to run the executbale file.

    No mate

They are the photos which they have got for the whole wedding and they have to pick the ones they want. He gives them the CD and they note down the numbers and he prints them off etc.... I just wanted to get the rest of them and play about with them, and now its become a challenge *lol*

    Hey

This programme works a treat and I thank you for pointing me it, but there are like 200 odd photos which are in the exe. and I'm just lazy to extract them all

You could do a 'recontruction' of the event, and take some pics yourself.

Sorry I dunno much, but some of these wedding photographers can be cnuts, my old man got remarried last year, they wanted some silly price for dvd's so I said I would do them. Gave up and me old man paid up in the end.

what you should try is running ResHacker; http://delphi.icm.edu.pl/ftp/tools/ResHack.zip

and then select the .exe file, on the left side under the tree menus select either 'GIF' or 'Bitmap'

and then you may be able to extract them that way

    Hey

Used the app and it did exaclty what it said on the tin. IT opened the .exe file up but when I tried to open up the bitmap folder it said that they had been compressed and it didn't open them.

So I checked here (the programmers website) and he had it stated as parts of its limitations......

Looks like I'll have to Picgrab them all ;(
