Panorama on telly Tonight

Panorama tonight on the telly was focusing on the violent videos uploaded on to youtube and other sites like it.
They look at if they should host them and their complaints procedure. youtube maintain their site is policed by the viewers. No one is employed to filter content, and it is up to the Police to approach them about certain videos.

What are your views on this? We will enter into the censorship argument, peoples rights etc , but in terms of fights, violence, and scenes of crimes, is it a good thing should we be able to see it , upload it, or should youtube et al not host it you decide

id rather nothing was censored than somone have to decide what should be. you run the risk of over censorship... which is the last thing the world needs now.

saw this the other day, in a way its good that people upload teen violence videos, this makes people/government aware of the crime that happens on the streets or schools and should take action against it. but companies such as youtube or liveleak they have the responsibility to make sure youngsters dont view and get influenced by watching the clips, they should ban or delete the videos along with the racist comments, id like to know why would they allow such content like that to be uploaded on their site!

I think it's brilliant. If these clips were instantly deleted, there would be no public outcry, so no police investigation. Let idiots prove they should be locked up if they want to.

that was my point... who decides what gets uploaded and what doesnt? it sure as hell shouldnt be google. and even if it was, that would fix one site.. what about the hundreds of other video upload sites.

they shouldnt filter anything out.. simply remove things that get flagged as "fucked up".

but its not the video sites than need scrutinised, its the fucking arsehole children doing the filming.

I saw the program too, I don't think these violence videos should be banned as they are showing what is happening daily in our society. It is better to educate people of what happens in public schools so they can (try (poorly)) to combat it.

However I'm sure everyone agrees that certain material should always be censored, such material including some (f*cking sick) types of porn *waits for jokes, probaly involving CJ or the like, to appear below

The owner of liveleak didn't seem to care at all lol, and I don't think that his videos are vetted at all unless he hires some chickens to do it like that advert...

My views as well. Were any of you bullied in anyway? I was at Primary, not not seriously there after.

I think it's down the the viewers (adults and children) to feel upset, disgusted, appalled etc by the videos rather than thinking they are 'cool'. The trouble is than a lot of children and a good percentage of adults probably think it is 'cool'.
