    Question Network sharing

Quite embarassed that I cant seem to sort this but I have a netgear wireless router with 3 pcs attached and one xbox. 2 wireless 1 cabled and xbox cabled.

The wireless pc's share files fine but for some reason I cannot get the wired pc to share files because I want to use the xbox to access the files on the wired pc (cos that connection will be the fastest).

All the machines are found by the xbox and I can watch videos off the 2 wireless ones but not the wired one.

This is a side issue tho since the other pc's cannot connect to the wired one for file sharing either.

Does anyone know if there is anyting special that needs to be done to get this working. I have tried just rerunning the network wizard but none love?

I was wondering if there was anything that the router might be doing to prevent connections?

Have you logged in/got access rights for each machine? I find xp wont let me click on a networked item until I've actually gone to the workgroup folder and clicked on the machine name there, which then prompts me for user/pass... then it will let me access devices. I imagine you could allow access accounts on the machines themselves so you don't need to do it manually each time. ANother issue could be firewalls, maybe disable them till you isolate the problem.

Yeah its a home network and i have rights on everything.
No firewalls installed apart from the xp one and the one on the router.
when i do \\computer name it just says you may not have permissions to access that network resource.

Also none of the machines have u/n or pass so this isnt an issue.

Its annoying... im sure its something on the router not allowing the connections to go through but not sure what. FTP works fine though so maybe i just havent got it configued correctly

Make sure all the folders or files you want are set to shared via Properties > Shared TAB

Yeah that is done. From this machine I can see the files shared on this machine under my network places but no other comp on the network wired or wireless can connect to it. grrr Still cant seem to get around it ffs.
