    Default Bank Charges

Right, i know about 6 or so months ago, every1 and their dog were claiming back bank charges from their banks. Is is still possible and easy enough to do? Ive just noticed Ive been caned for almost £200 quids worth of charges over the last 5/6months and am proper pissed off about it.

Anyone offer any advice or useful URLs ?
    Thanks in advance.

I used the monsey saving expert guide and downloadable letters to claim. Worked a treat and 8 weeks later abbey paid up in full.

    MSE guide

Some things have changed since i did mine, like the Office of Fair Trading have agreed to a high courts test case:
    Q. What happens to reclaiming bank charges in the meantime?

    A. The FSA has given banks a waiver from dealing with bank charges reclaiming cases until after the case, meaning they needn’t respond to complaints in the meantime. At the same time the Financial Ombudsmen also said it won’t look at any cases either. It has been said the courts will follow suit, yet the situation there is more complex and you may still be able to go via that route (more details later).

Yet rather than doing nothing, this means it’s important you put a claim in now as a marker. See the what should I do section.

what exactly did you get charged for?

they tend to only give them out where you have exceeded your balance and/or overdraft and try to spend money you do not actually have in your possession.

avoid doing so, or increase your overdraft and you wont incur charges.

    problem solved
