    Default EUROVOX MAX V BOX

    Hi all,

I'm getting one of these on Friday from a legend off these forums (I won't mention him, but I'm sure he'll pop along if he wants to make himself known).
I'm just after a few tips really. Anyone have one of these boxes? Are they good to use with Virg1n? How have you found yours? Many issues?
    What is the EPG like?
    All help/comments welcome.....Cheers

I'm still trying to get my head around things (not used it much, been busy).

However, you get something like 238 channels on virgin, however most of the sky / porn channels are duplicated. E.g. The "Sky movies" labeled channel just has the Virgin "enter pin to see channel" screen. The actual film feed is on a separate channel named something obscure like "TVChl12". You can rename the channels, but obviously it will take a few days to get my head around it.

It has 8 favorite groups (which you can also rename - but they are all sensibly named as default). So it is easy to catagorise the channels and find them fast. You can also lock each channel by pin number.

So as you can see, it will take a couple of days to figure out which channels are which with sky etc... and to get all the Favorites sorted. Not easy when everybody wants to watch the TV and not watch you faff about sorting channels. I just hope to god it remembers the setup if power goes... I will cry if i have to do it again!

The EPG is very good. Pressing EPG while watching a channel will give a page with programs listed for the next 6 hours (with the TV picture in box in corner so you can still watch). Pressing something else (can't remember what) will give you the program guide for all the channels in the group you are in (e.g. if you are in sports favorites, you will see the EPG for all those channels you have put in). Its quite neat and comprehensive and very detailed.

The actual unit has a RF pass through (which I didn't actually expect). This means it broadcasts the cable by both two scart outs and RF! We have several TV's around the house that has the cable channel via RF, so it was very handy to find that you can set the vox's cable brodcast channel to anything you want (in the setup menu). A bit of faffing about and I found that my virgin box was using channel 53. Set the Vox to match and presto, I didn't have to retune umteen TV's around the house!

If I had to make two very minor criticisms of the unit they would be...

The remote... Don't get me wrong, its very well laid out and very intuitive to use... but it looks very cheap (think Amstrad)

The standby light... another unit that has a LED standby light that is bright enough to be seen from space!

use dnupmanager and a serial cable, download the channel list and then edit in your own time

dnupmanager only uploads and downloads the listings from the box. I use voxer which is pretty easy to use to edit and move channels about and you can save the CDF file on your pc once sorted. so if anything happens you can just upload the listings again to the box and will save time going through sorting them again.... If anyone needs the program, drop us a pm.....

Stupid Re: EUROVOX MAX V BOX

    Hi everyone,

I'm very sorry if i broke any rules please let me know if i have, thanx.

I just wanna know, is the Eur*vox Max V 2008 any good?, i made a purchase on a website today.

I also downloaded the Voxer and Dn Upman V8 software from a website, just in case.

Can anyone please tell me about the the channels?, are the virg*n media channels free to view, if i connect my old cable wire to the Eur*vox Max V 2008 box.

I read on the website where i purchased the Eur*vox Max V 2008 , that you can view over 250+ channels of virg*n media channels, but it does not say anything about subscribing to anything.

I'm guessing that all u have to do is buy the Eur*vox Max V 2008 box, disconnect the cable wire from my old Tel*west Pace NLT box, after this i assume, that i obviously connect Eur*vox Max V 2008 to the cable wire, and then wait for Sk* Sports 1 to come up and enjoy the prem league for free.

Can someone please tell me if this is correct or I'm i wrong, because I've already paid for it.

If I'm wrong, is it possible to view virg*n media channels or have i been scammed?

I will appreciate any sort of positive advice.

I have spotted them on Ebay But I would prefer to deal with someone on this forum as at least then you know who you are dealing with!

I was thinking of getting one of these - but what can they get? I know you get all the stuff that's pumped through by your provider - but what about other channels? German Premiere and Canal+ and Greek Supersport. CAn you get these through a Eurovovboxxy thingy?

    Thanks
