Default Has the smoking ban spoiled some places?

Right, I'm not a smoker however it generally does not bother me (unless I'm eating).

I usually go out round town and many of the bars and the main club there have always had an outside area, be it a rooftop bar, terrace outside etc. It was always pleasant to go out there in the summer when it got too hot inside.
But - in light of the smoking ban the places have obviously made these into designated smoking areas. You go out there and its rammed full of people and the smoke is overpowering! I know it's outside but it still lingers like anything!
When they allowed smoking inside the clubs it was miles better - you had the same number of people smoking but they were spread out across the whole 1500 other people in the club and the aircon units suck the air out. Ye, it was a bit smokey but completely manageable!! Now you have a few hundred people all smoking, crammed into the same small place and if there's no wind it's like being stood in a fuckin drugs den! They're effectively making the outside areas no-go for non-smokers.
I'm not blaming people who smoke at all here - quite the opposite in fact - I'm blaming the cunts who have said you have to smoke here, can't smoke here, can smoke there etc etc!

So basically, you are saying it is much more sensible and pleasant to have the same amount of smokers in a room with an 8 foot ceiling than have them outside where the limited ceiling of about 7 miles makes things a tad unpleasant?

However, the experience you are describing is exactly what none smokers have faced for years.

I know what ur saying, most pubs now instead of smelling smokey smell of stale carpet. Altho I do find it funny to see all the people crammed into small areas for a fag.

They should never have banned smoking in pubs, it should have been left totally up to the landlords.

Pubs will never be the same again - for me they should always have been havens for smoking and drinking.

    Agree completely!!
I am not a smoker and think the ban is an excelent way forward. But doing it in pubs went too far. Should have been up to the landlords.

If they allow smoking, then don't go in if you have a problem!

I've found that not outside area's, beer gardens, etc... have become unsuitable for children, as, like dev/null said, every smoker is now outside due to the ban.

Oh well, least of my worries really

Point of this post - limited.

I was in a club on Saturday, which I hadn't been to since the smoking ban came into force. I have to say, the smell of vomit was most over-powering! That coupled with the stench of shit downstairs [not in my pants - in another area of the club!] made the entire night quite unpleasant. I don't know how many times I suggested people should be smoking. It was revolting!

I am a non-smoker. I don't go to club's, but do go to pub's and restaurants allot. It is lovely to eat and drink in a smoke free environment. I'm not keen on the people who stand by the entrance smoking and flicking fag butt's on the floor.

No smoking indoors is just easing smokers towards a complete ban. It'll be outlawed soon enough.

I do agree its a pain in the arse when the ignorant smokers stand in the door way with the door half open so they can stay in the conversation with the non-smokers, I am glad its banned in pubs I was sick to death of going home smelling like an ashtray.....completely ruined the fresh vomit smell down my front

I'm in two minds about this one.

Firstly I have not smoked for over 6 weeks now, and the thought and smell of smoking repulses me.

Secondly I think the atmosphere has gone from my local, not necessary because there is no smoke but because there are now so many people outside smoking. Mind you come Dec things should change there.
There is also the fact that clubs now smell of piss, spew and sweat. And if there is nothing I hate more it's the smell of some skanky fuckers sweaty pits.
I was out drinking in London the other week after the england france rugby game, the amount of people out drinking on the streets was unreal, and most pubs just seemed empty. It was easy to get served but there was a lot less to look at.

Anyway next thing you'll be telling me is sleeping with animals is being made illegal, then I will know that the Daily Mail is right and the whole country has gone mad!
