Attention My Site, need major advice

    Hi, my site is www.pc-mot.com

Its not my work but that of a friend of mine, as you can see at the bottom of the site.
granted its work in action. He's trying hard but seems to be struggling.
When it comes to hardware and software problems im fine. But when it comes to gfx and websites im stuffed.
I want honest opinions of what you would expect, like, to see on this site, the front end in my opinion is to plain, the background seems to bright, i dunno?

If someone can help me out big time i would appreciate it.
Or if someone can push me in the direction of a web designer who would
a: got lots of spare time
    b: not charge alot.
c: know what they are doing

I'm not trying to run my mate down in anyway, what hes done i appreciate but we both know it needs a differetn approach of some sort.

    Many Thanks

    Dean

P.s Some of the things i thought of were
getting a few images on the front end
the online booking system, must be a better way to do it.
the contact us page at least appears to work lol
testimonials, would be nice for customers to be able to leave comments
online store isnt set up yet. thought i would try and get the site running 1st

I like it, simple layout wit nice colours.

Some of your images are a little gash... streched out and resized etc, and your new systems and base units pages dont display correctly (FF2.0 & IE7)

Images and text overlapping and margins are all cocked up.

Software issues page seems a little out with the layout also, left colum has no margins, looks nasty. seems most of your site lacks content, i.e when you browse some pages is a lot of white space, like your case modding page - but i assume you have work in progress..

Anyway i like the banner and layout.

    - Navigation menus are better presented on the left of the page. As with reading, the readers eyes move from left to right. Definately consider left aligning things.

    - The mouseover images on the top navigation menu would enhance the overall design more if the onmouseover image was swapped around for the default image. So instead of raising up when the mouse goes over a tab, it appears to depress.

    - pc mot banner logo could be moved to the left, and "Home & Business PC Repair Specialist " could be put next to it to fill the remaining dead space on the banner. Or you could consider adding quotes from client testimonials so a random one loads in the banner space each time a page is loaded.
