    Default strange problem... help!

    hi all,

We went to Chester the other day and before we went into the mersey tunnel on the way back we switched off our car radio (toyota yaris) because you obviously get no signal under there, when we came out the other end we switched it back on and we couldn't get any reception. I've checked that the aerial is still connected securely on the roof, and its just getting nothing.

Any ideas what could have happened and if it can be fixed by myself? or will i need to pay to get it repaired? Its annoying not knowing why it did it!

    thanks for any help/suggestions,
    Russbeer

what do you get? just the crackling? does everything else work?

    have you tried re-tuning?

we get a lot of the static sort of crackle as if there's no aerial, occasionally you can hear a very faint scratchy sound of the radio station if theres a very strong signal nearby.

We've done the usual stuff like searching through frequencies to try and retune but no joy.

Sounds like the aerial has come unplugged from the back. pull it out and have a look. Check you still have an aerial on the roof first!

Try pushing a wire, or a long screwdriver into the socket to see if you get any signal...be careful....don't break it.

Its unlikely but turning it off then on could have blown the PPL circuit. (new radio)

Does the sound change when you try to tune it or is it the same noise all the time?
