Rumor: Xbox 360 repairs delayed by up to six weeks?

Game blog Kotaku reports that Xbox 360 repairs are taking upwards of six weeks due to a spike in returns after Microsoft extended the console's warranty from one to three years in early July.

One commenter confirmed the six week repair turnaround while adding that Microsoft was kind enough to send along a free game due to the excessive delay.

Clearly alot of people sitting on them.

I do not think anyone is surprised by this though are they? People stories here have been in line with this kind of turnaround, is nto slower.

Hmm. My 360 was collected last Monday and I have yet to receive an e-mail of receipt or anything like that.

I guess this is why?

Mine was collected last Monday and I received an email of receipt yeaterday.

Hope it is not 6 weeks, my Cousin is back this Sunday and will want his 360 back and I will be without.

i thought the typical wait was 6 weeks anyway.

It would make sense tho, theres lots of people buying them off ebay to send to MS and no doubt theres loads that were over a year old that people just put in a cupboard etc.

It may even have a knock en effect to sales, since people can finally get their old one fixed instead of going out and buying another.

Someone should remind MS the idea is to get spikes in sales, not returns

I also asked the bloke on the phone with regards to how long it will take and he said around 72 hours, should I call them and go off it and try and get some free stuff?
