I have had N*L cable broadband for 11 months now, all was fine until last week I lost my internet connection. A very long and expensive call to India resulted in tests showing that my modem was not receiving all the packets back (50% loss). A ping test shows some responses time out while others were successful. The sync and ready lights are sometimes both on, sometimes just the sync flashes and sometimes the ready flashes. Both sync and ready have been off for a while too.
Virgin said the problem was with my PC and they were about to abandon me when I got a new laptop out of a box, hooked it up to the modem and got the same faults.
When I reported that I had no connection at all for a period, they agreed to send out an engineer, but it will be 6 days : (
Anyone had a similar fault? I wonder whether it is the modem to blame.
I am very angry that Virgin were just going to abandon me with no connection when the fault is clearly theirs!
