to see what chipset you have, go into device manager, and expand the tab that says "System Devices"

Mine on my laptop says "Mobile Intel(R) 915GM/PM/GMS/910GML Express Processor to DRAM Controller - 2590", so have a look for something like that (esp the "Processor to DRAM Controller" part!).

Do you have the latest drivers for your ATI mobility radeon X1600?
If not download them from ATI's site and then reinstall DirectX.
Are there any patches for the game? Try visiting the companies website and see.

I updated to 2048 MB ram, and now i actually get an ERROR MESSAGE before the game crashes. IT FEELS SO GOOD TO HAVE SOMETHING TO WORK FROM

What do you make of this?

from what I understand, client.dll is missing or corrupt! you can download another copy from here

dunno, do a search for it on your PC, and replace the one you have, from what iv read, its normally somewhere in the game directory!

I've reinstalled it like 3 times. I've even reinstalled XP twice. But its now today i got that message about corrupt file

Reinstalled the game, SEEN WITH MY OWN EYES the client file, and i still get the same error message... Why is it that this allways happens to me? i get a bunch of errors, i fix them the same way as everyone else, and it still wont work!

can you try it on a mates PC? because it might be faulty RAM or something causing the probs! If it works on a mates PC fine, then its very unlikely to be a software issue if youv re-installed Windows and the game 3/4 times!

yes, but devices can become faulty when booting the PC due to an electrical surge! It's always possible, and I wouldn't rule it out!

The best thing to do is create a partition on your hard drive, re-install Vista on the new partition, and test it, if it works, its a conflict with XP, if it doesn't something has went tits up with your hardware! Simple as!

Use Acronis Disk Director Suite 10 to create the new partition, because older versions of Acronis dont support it, and I personally think Partition Magic is crap, it caused me porblems with Linux partitions that Acronis sorted!

Acronis can be downloaded from "the usual places"

Thats why i've installed XP so many times. It's like i'm reinstalling it every time something goes wrong

how dont Vista work anymore? Phone M$ and get them to reset the activation at their end (they will do it, I know folk that have done it).

and you dont even need to activate it! you just want to test the game on Vista, so the 30 dya trial will do fine! Like I say, just partition your hard drive, then delete the partition after you test the game in Vista!!

Yeah, but thats the weird part. After i install vista, it tells me "trial version has expired" when i try to logg on for the first time.
But i'll call the MS ppl

OK, this sucks! I just bought another game; "two worlds"
When i start two worlds, i get the error message: "The program can not start because X3DAudio1_1.dll does not exist."

When i start gothic, i get the error message: "Error while starting game executable - couldn't load DLL file d3dx9_29.dll"

WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH DIRECT X??? =S
