    Default Filling exterior gaps

Basically about every 5-10 years we need to fill in the cracks on the front of the house, normally we've just scrubbed with a wire brush, filled up with polyfilla/tetrion, then just painted over with white exterior paint.

It's coming close - probably going to do it next week, was wondering if anyone had any tips or suggestions to make it last - after reading the thread on cracks in a bathroom, I was wondering if I was to fill the gaps with pvc then paint over - would it crack less as the pvc can stretch - but I don't know if this is good for exterior walls.

    hi m8
basicaly you need to rack out all the cracks all loose material and fill with an exterior grade chaulk this will be more flexible and help in the hot and cold weather for movement etc

as above but also if the cracks are REALLY thin, scrape them out (i know - u dont want to cause more damage!!!) with something a bit sharp and then u can get a decent bead of mastic/caulk in and it will be a lot more durable than if u try and force it into a hairline crack. hope this helps
