    Default memory

just installe 2 x 1gig sticks on pc, mb hand book said to install in 2 of the 4 slots available ensuring that they were the same colour, when i do this then it will not boot, get to bios screen which says something like system32 missing try and repair from xpdisc, try this and will not pass "loading windows" if i use 1 stick...no prob, if i use 1 slot of each colour ...no prob, but manual recommends same colour so is it ok to leave or is there a way to use as directed ?

if you have two identical memory cards, then your better off using '1 slot of each colour' (1st of each colour) coz this will probably give you a dual channel memory configuration (faster).

sounds like the memory is slightly dodgy - I've got the same in a media centre and so have to use it in different coloured (non-paired) slots, every so often it won't boot (20 or so goes) but is fine for what I'm using it for. If the memory is new I'd run memtest on it and return it if that flags up any probs
