    Question Intermittant reading...

I have a 79fk that has been "modded" to allow me to flash it like a 78 (sata to PC, no external device needed) - and this I have done using the fwtoolbox v4 and iExtreme 1.2.

Now, the games I have grabbed (iExtreme compatible, checked the dvdmulleter) have reports of people saying they work fine etc.

However, I burn them, they work, then the next day (or hours later) the very same game gives me dirty disk errors.
If I reburn the same iso, it works again, then does the same.

Only Stuntman Ignition has worked perfectly for 3-4 days, and that was the 2nd burn after the first one did the work-die trick.

Anyone have any ideas on whats causing this?
Could it be the media? Could it be the 79->78 patching thing and an error with the fw?

I am using AOne disks from Rap, burning at 2x using CloneCD.

    Cheers guys!

Use better discs like Verbs or Traxdatas!

If better discs fail, then its the laser thats the problem, but I suggest trying better discs first!

Yeah I do know it maybe media if the new 79fk drive is picky - I was just wondering why they would work and then stop working....the AOnes were 100% perfect for me and many others (on my old 47 drives )

I`ll try and grab some verbs later to test, was just wondering if anyone had similar issues...

    Cheers

well its just like when you burn a DVD, put it away, then go to use it 3/4 years later, sometimes (moreso with poor media), the data "degrades" over time, and the disc becomes unreadable!

I know its very strange, and that your discs are mere minutes old, opposed to years old, but dodgy media will cause strange things like this to happen!

I had the same problem with Fifa 2007 and a bad batch of Traxdatas! They just wouldn't retain data for more than 30/40 minutes for some reason!
