Nuisance Phone Call (call centre)?

hi guys getting 2 calls a day now for the last 3-4 weeks from the same number

There is just nothing there and it goes dead everytime, its really annoying as they seem to ring just as we are trying wind the kids down and get them to bed, can anybody trace where this is coming from as it does not accept incoming calls when i try and call back

I recieved a call from someone in Glasgow, told them I was registered to this, and as they were away to hang up I asked to be removed from their list, and they said ok. Havn't been bothered since! And that was the 1st call Iv had from folk in the UK trying to sell stuff since I registered with this!

Annoyingly they cant stop calls from overeas, such as india!!

Worked a treat for me, some twat sold all my details to one of these marketing companies & TBH it was hell for e few weeks till the missus contacted this place. After a week or so not a dickie bird. What a relief.

I registered with TPS and I still get muppets asking for "Mr Brown" which I think is a generic icebreaker... then they turn the call round saying are you the account holder then try to flog me a mobile phone. I give them a load of verbal abuse every time now just for fun.

Most call centres use whets called predictive dialler this bulk dials 100s of numbers per minute.
IE you have 100 operators working 1.35 ratio so the dialler will 135 numbers so on the odd time all the operators will be busy so you get dead air as there is no one to connect to.
The best way to deal with a call centre is not to answer the call with any thing verbal wait for them to say hello this is because the dialer used an algorithm to detect an answer that’s why you get a 2 second pause some times when they call as the call is routed.
My advice don’t say hello and get caller ID

BFG, try asking them nicely, because if you give them abuse, they'll keep calling! Unless your REALLY abusive, like I was to some dick in india, because they wouldn't stop calling after trying to deal with them nicely!

I was shouting at the guy at the top of my lungs giving him death threats, saying that I would hunt him down like a dog, cut his balls off with a rusty hacksaw, and feed them to him. He tried to insult me back, but I started shouting back even louder, and louder. He then hung up and called back within 1min, saying "Can I speak with Mr Son of a Bitch", so I had a PROPER go at him (as if what I said before wan't enough), then he hung up, and I havn't heard anything in over 2 weeks!

I like to play with em.
I'm ex dir. caller ID and pay BT a few quid and withheld numbers can't get through.
Worth every penny.
I like to know exactly who I'm speaking to. If they withhold then I don't want to speak to em - got something to hide.
Ask for their phone number at home and tell them you'll ring back at 2am.
When they say that's no good because they are at home, say "Well that's how I feel mother fucker"

I had some plonker phone me up "following a conversation we had a few months back". Of course there had been no previous conversation and I cut him short before he could finish his sales speech... "sorry, not interested, goodbye"... hang up.

2 seconds later, the phone rings again... "how the hell can you not be interested when you don't even know what I am selling????" the guy says in an annoyed voice. I respond... "because as you said we talked about it a few months back.... durrrrr!!!!! Goodbye". Hang up again!

BTW... I have noticed that if you always give a mobile number as your contact details in all forms etc you are 99% less likely to get cold calling (I presume it costs them too much)

jesus that was back in april, god help me lol. I have registered with all them sites and will give it a week or so and see if it stops, might have to get it banned which i believe is £4 a month, might be worth it just for some peace lol

there's a prefix code that un-witholds the number. I think it's 140. my sister has to do this if she rings from her work. well thats if she wants to get through

This happened to me once, had dodgy phone calls for weeks.

Basically had a guy call me and tell me he was from vodaphone, I asked him whether it was actually vodaphone he worked for and after a pause he said no, so I hung up the phone.

Then started getting phone calls from same number (they didnt withhold) and just hung up on me everytime I answered (am registered with the pref service already). I had to just ignore the ones from him/them and they finally stopped.

They obviously make enough money to waste other peoples time.
