I am starting to think something's wrong with my XP cd. This also happened no more than a month ago. Thats when i formated the PC last. Should i get a new version of XP?

Or should i perhaps install Vista again Ô_õ

(And just for the record; i still cant find "DMA" of "PIO" :S)

Should i reinstall the whole PC after i upgrade the RAM?

    I have almost 40GB free of 100GB
40 gig is only just about enough given what you are doing. However since the ram went in AFTER that seems the likely cause. About three years ago I replaced the 1 gig of matched ram in a new computer with a gig of the best matched Corsair available (it really was the best, they don't make it now but secondhand it's in real demand, I know I bought some last year!) Anyway my computer ran like yours, it wouldn't even run Planetside properly, not the most demanding of games. I ran ramcheck and it came up with all sorts of errors, Corsair replaced it under their warranty and it's been fine ever since. Just the usual XP and now Vista nonsense!

What does it mean when i shut down Vista for the first time, and it gets stuck in the "logging of" screen... It has been there for two straight hours.

I HAVE WORK TO DO! WHY IS THIS HAPPENING TO ME

It's called "the long goodbye" for me it's one of the many things that has me moving to Macintosh. Hold dpwn the power button for more thn 4 seconds and it will power off, alternatively a laptop sometimes has a small reset hole underneath which you can operate with a paperclip.

Yeah, that's what i did. But i have a feeling that doing that isnt very healthy for the computer. Specially since it was the restart after a windows update = /

    Will this harm my computer?

Hard to say, you may have hardware issues as we discussed earlier, if they caused the freeze it will be hard to know, You need to run ramcheck, it runs in dos before the OS boots so try and get copy

I've just realised that your delay was during install, it's happened to me with no ill effect, it really depends what caused it.
