iPhone firmware check

If you have an iPhone arriving and can't get into the phone to check firmware (chicken and egg situation) do the following, taken from hackint0sh.org

For field test mode follow:

You can check what firmware is preinstalled by going to the emergency call, entering *3001#12345#* then pressing "Call". Under Versions you will find what revision firmware is on the phone out of the box.

03.12.06_G Is firmware 1.0.0
03.14.08_G Is firmware 1.0.1 and 1.02
04.01.13_G Is 1.1.1

It's looking like someone has already managed to downgrade, I haven't checked into this thoroughly but if you HAVE got 1.1.1 just be patient

yeah, been reading about some peeps who have downgraded from 1.1.1 to 1.0.2..still waiting for defo results..

Looks promising though.

Just for jailbreak and (I think) activation though, baseband will take a little longer
