    Info Nintendo DS Backup Units

Got both my young sons a DS Lite each put away for Xmas. I want to get them both a backup unit for downloaded games as well. Whats available? Easy to use is a must for them and loads of features is not important. Where do get from as well.

    Cheers

Ive' had 3 R4DS carts from hxxp://www.supercardstore.com/ref1/product_info.php?products_id=57. That's 1 for me and 2 for a friend's kids for xmas. Can't fault them. Accepted every game I've put on there so far. Nowhere near as cheap as the dealextreme price posted by RobDaly21. I bought the last 2 together with a 1Gb card for each for £82 incl special delivery cost. 2 carts plus 4-day delivery from US of A is only $85 = £42. Can't go wrong IMO at that price. Wish I'd shopped around when I wanted mine.

Yea, thats a fair price mate! Normally the M3DS is about £30 on its own! Cos its the same as an R4DS (even made in the same factory), but just uses different software (that does the exact same stuff as the R4DS software) and comes in a different case!

NOTE: You cant used R4DS software on an M3DS and vice versa without a slight modification!

yeah i found a site that tells me how to do it here

    hxxp://www.gba-nds.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=89&Itemid=25

so would you recomend buying it?
what's the difference in software, which would be easier for a 6yo to use?

yes mate, I would recommend buying it. The only real noticable difference in software is the skin (how it looks), and nothing else. Both are as easy to use as each other!

Simply put the MicroSD card into the provided adapter, and plug it into a USB port, then drag and drop your games, then shove it back into the DS cart, and play!

The hardest part (which isnt even hard) is copying the system software to the MicroSD card (simple copy & paste) and once its been copied, thats it! Just start dragging over your game ROMs!

that guide explains everything! except that if I wanted to turn my M3DS into an R4DS I would use the method in this pic:

just saves messing with extra software.

But as iv said, there is no difference apart from what the skin looks like, both do the exact same thing, and are just as good as each other!

    ok chears fellas!
one last thing, crashtestmac asked about customs on the deal extreme website. as i am now thinking that one of these would be cheaper, and i could also get myself a 2gb memory stick pro duo for my psp, just wondering if any has had any dealings with them i.e. are the memory sticks genuine and as asked before do they post as a gift?
the memory stick can be found here

why not buy a memory stick from here?

Its £15 for a 2GB SanDisk one delivered and you can guarantee its gonna be a real one, an not a copy! And if anything is wrong with it when you recieve it, its easy to send back!

Cos the 2GB ones on Deal Extreme is $25, which is about £13, and thats not including delivery!
