Japan gets the 40gig machine in sexy white

Sony announced the new 40GB PlayStation 3 will launch in Japan on November 11, for 39980 yen. The 40GB PS3 will be available in Black and Ceremic White, and bundled with one Dual Shock 3 controller. The original models of PS3 will receive price drop on October 17, the 20GB PS3 will be 44980 yen and 60GB PS3 will be 54980 yen. The first 200,000 people who purchase a PS3 in Japan after October 17 will receive a free copy of Spider-Man 3 Blu-Ray video.



Sony will also release the Dual Shock 3 controller (with built-in Sixaxis support) in Japan on November 11, for 5500 yen.



Koei announced the action game Shin Sangoku Musou 5 [Dynasty Warriors 6] for PS3 and Xbox 360 will be released in Japan on November 11, 2007, for 7560 yen. Koei/Sony will also release a new Shin Sangoku Musou 5 with PS3 40GB Bundle Pack on the same date for 49980 yen.





A new colour, cheaper bundle and a game such as Dynasty warriors (very very popular in the east) should give the machine a big sales boot over there.

I know they want to take some of the market off the 360, but I'm not actually sure that turning a PS3 into a 360 is the way to go!

All new 40Gb versions are going to (start) shipping with the standard SIXAXIS controller and not the Dual Shock 3. Dual Shock 3 is also available in Japan on the same day the 40Gb gets released.
