I am currently at 85 EXP, Lieutenant Grade 2. It says my next promotion is at 200 EXP which seems an awful big bloody jump.
I have looked at other players of a similar rank and their next promotion is not as high as 200.
Any ideas why?
the next one for you is captain at 100 exp as i understand it.
Breaks down like this:

So to be a level 3 Lieutenant you need 200 EXP but if you get to level 20 before that then you get to be a level 1 Captain once you have 100 EXP.
At that stage you then get to be level 2 Captain at 150 EXP so thats not too bad.
The idea is that even if you are shit if you play enough you will eventually get better badges whereas most people should just advance through the different ranks at level 1 or 2 mostly... I think

You get more points for winning games while playing against higher level players. Also I think level goes up higher in lone wolves but im not sure.
So if you win a game with all players of the same level you don't level up that fast. But if you keep winning games where the players are higher ranks then you will level up faster. There is no way to get into these games by choice tho. Just keep doing lone wolves and winning and it should go up pretty quick.
You need to get your exp up any way to rank up so just play lots and lots of games should do it and shorter game types means more exp.

the ranks are screwey at the moment, i was playing against much higher ranks last night and won 8 lost 1 and levelled down a rank without ever ranking up.

OMG My Stats are Borked!
Posted by lukems at 10/10/2007 11:24 AM PDT
Over the past few days, some players (including myself) have noticed that their stats from games of Halo 3 have not been uploading to Bungie.net. The issue involved corrupted data that, in the simplest of terms, wasn't connecting players to their game data. The data still existed, the games just had to be relinked to the profiles.
Because of the way our database works, the most recently uploaded games affect the Player Bar at the top of your page. So, while the reprocessing is underway (it should conclude in the next 24-36 hours), things like your Rank and EXP may appear differently than they appear in game, specifically, they may appear how they were on say, last Friday. The good news is that the in-game display is correct and will be reflected on the website either after you play another game and it uploads, or one all of the processing is complete and you play another game -- that's because of the "most recently updated game history" bit I was talking about above.
So if your displayed rank, EXP or anything weird is showing up on your stats page, we're aware of it and it's the result of maintenance we are doing to keep everything current. Don't freak out, top men are on it.
