    Help Internet

I am setting up internett on a friends new PC. It came with windows vista. There is a router here. My PC is connected to the net with the router in the room, but when i try to connect to internet with my friend's PC, it tells me "Windows can not connect to Sitecom"

I have diagnosed and repaired without luck, I have resterted the net card in the PC and so on.

Why cant this PC connect to internet, and how can i fix it?

    Thx in advance, Dahwan.

Do you have a valid IP address on the second PC?

    Any proxys specified?

As said, is IP set to DHCP?

Actually, is it wired or wireless first of all?

    Lower any firewalls?

Is the fucker plugged in? (ie, does the light on the router light up?)

Your need to set the machine to have an automatic IP address, this means the router (should) dish it out a valid address and let you connect.

You need to download the instructions for your router I reckon.

As welsh pete says, you need to set the router to DHCP so it dishes out IP addresses to those who are trying to access it. Also make sure your router is not filtered to only give out an IP to your pc's mac address.
