Pinky and Perky make TV comeback

The animated show will begin airing on CBBC next year

Pinky and Perky have been given a 21st Century makeover for a TV comeback in a computer-animated cartoon series.
The classic children's characters have been given a new look, complete with trainers, jeans and sunglasses.
Aimed at children aged six to 11, the CBBC series will see the porcine pair stage their own live TV show, full of games, gunge tanks and star guests.
Pinky and Perky first appeared on the BBC in 1957 and attracted audiences of 15 million at their peak.
There have been several largely abortive attempts to revive them since their show finished in 1973.
The puppet duo were huge television stars in their heyday

They include an adult show at the 2001 Edinburgh Festival entitled Sex, Drugs and Bacon Roll.
Produced by Lupus Films, the new 52-part series will begin on CBBC towards the end of 2008. The production company said the snout-nosed duo would be "the same, but different". CBBC creative director Anne Gilchrist said: "We're very excited that CBBC viewers will be able to enjoy this high energy reinvention of a classic brand."
