I think the robin is best in my opinion. Either that or the squirrel.

from the heron about 50 yds but for the rest quite close ( a matter of yards ) but even at 300mm it's very hard to fill the frame with small birds the squirrel and pheasant arn't so bad as there quite chunky
the malard i could almost touch but there quite tame so no bother

the birds are getting hungry about this time of the year so it's quite easy to get close
