I looked up K1NGS and surprisingly it's uninsured. It was sold for £231k back in 1993 according to this site: http://www.regtransfers.co.uk/pr/new..._a_mr51ngh.asp
It's probably sitting on a Rolls in someone's car collection that never gets taken out the garage.
uninsured according to that site
edit: how come when i check my car i get a big blue circle with an arrow in it and no details and when i search my girlfriends i get her cars make and model

Go read some guidance on personal data and privacy and then come back. If you know the owner then it tells you about circumstance relating to the owners affairs. The point being whether the vehicle is insured or not.
Recent decisions by the information tribunal stated that the mere disclosure of an empty property details amounted to personal data as it said something about the individual that owned it.

Ermmm, I also think that you are wrong PT. Purely on the basis that the actual website states that it is an offense to use this info for anything other than your own cars!
"I confirm that the vehicle detailed above is registered, owned or insured by either my employer or myself and is regularly driven by me. I understand it is an offence to wrongfully obtain information of this nature without reasonable cause and if I fail to provide true reasons for acquiring information I may be committing an offence of unlawfully obtaining data contrary to section 55 of the Data Protection Act 1988. I declare that the information provided will not be used for any purposes unrelated to this enquiry"
I just checked a few of my older cars, a pug 206 I had isnt insured it may have been scrapped by now but a focus I had that i wrote off over 4 years ago is insured
If only the police had access to that site they would stop pulling me for no insurance now we just need a site to check for tax they keep pulling me for that too.
my next door neighbours car is a merc c class estate and it comes up as a slk convertible!
İlubber Lang
CHAMP19NS
my missus megane convertible comes up as 4x4 but to its credit, it does state megane dynamique convertible
I've found a few discrepencies, a mate's beemer comes up half a litre smaller than it should, and an old carina I had comes up as a hilux, but to it's credit, it does seem to know quite well which cars are insured or not.
Great find. could come in handy!
I seem to not be seeing on the type of car, not that i am worried, pleased with that one as mine comes up present and correct.
But with private plates, do you need to put the spaces in. As both my bosses cars come up as not insured. I cannot imagine he would not have them insured.
We have a garage opposite us, i coudl have some fun with this.
Q
Nah, the intake manifold says 3.2/3.5 on it, so I doubt it's a 3 litre, but I know what you mean, had a mate who had a 316, even had the 316 badge on it, but he used to try telling everyone it had the 1.9 from the 318is.
Also private plates shouldn't affect it, my mum changed hers earlier this year and it comes out right, as well as a mate who bought a ride and transferred his plate to it earlier this year, and that comes out right as well. However, I've always put the spaces in the correct format.
You can check if a car is taxed on the dvla site. vehicle enquiry
http://www.vehiclelicence.gov.uk/EvlPortalApp/index.jsp
All seems fine with the cars I've checked.
Can't believe 'A1' is stuck on a Golf TDI though .
could come in very handy, cheers for this (all the ones i have put in have been spot on)
Ok then!!!
I have a toyota celica 1.8 vvti
It comes up as a VOLVO 2.0?????
Phoned direct line up just to make sure!!!
Not unusual for the model number of a beemer not to match up to the engine displacement, some 316 compacts had 1.9 engines, 323s with 2.5s etc, check the model. wikipedia has a great deal of info on which engines which models really have. Same goes for some mercs (1.8 supercharged engine in a 200 model etc)
