Default Two boys killed crossing motorway

"Two boys aged six and seven years old have been knocked down and killed as they tried to push their scooters across a busy three-lane motorway. "

    WTF?

As tragic as this is, what the hell were two boys of 6 & 7 doing out on their own at 7.30pm in the first place.

Absolutely tragic but have to agree with you tommy.

Not sure I'd even be letting my 6 year old lad out with just a 7 year old as company during the day let alone in the evening when it's dark by 6pm. Ok, so they were expected home by 5pm apparently but it's still a risky strategy to let 2 young kids out on their own for a day.

I know we shouldn't wrap kids in cotton wool and I was probably allowed out at this age till these times but it's still very scarey but equally tragic.

From what I understand the kids "escaped" and were missing, this wasn't a case of parental negligence, though this is unclear at the moment. Like the rest of you, my kids (7 & 5, so pretty damn close) are unquestionably safely at home at this time, and usually in bed of getting ready for bed. Absolutely horrid, and I really hope this is not a case of negligence.

    Father warned motorway death boy

Kieran had only lived in the area for about eight weeks
The father of a boy killed as he tried to cross a motorway with a friend says he was looking for his son when he was told of the crash.
Kieran Coupe, seven, and a six-year-old boy were both killed when they were hit by three cars on the M56 at Preston Brook, near Runcorn.

Kieran's father Colin Lambert said he had warned the youngster to stay away from the motorway.

Mr Lambert said: "I don't know how I feel. I was very hysterical yesterday."

Speaking outside his home on Blyth Close in the Murdishaw area of Runcorn, he added: "Kieran had only lived up here for probably about eight or nine weeks, so he didn't know the area very well.

"And I always said to him don't go down past the bridge."

Mr Lambert saw Kieran, who lived with him and grandmother Joan, on Wednesday afternoon when he was at the house with his friends.

They went out to play and Kieran was due back in the house at 1700 BST for his tea.

He had been warned not to go down to the motorway

    Colin Lambert, Kieran's father

When he did not return Mr Lambert and his brother went out to find him.

"He had been warned not to go down to the motorway. My sister lives by the motorway and he had been told not to go past her house."

Kieran has one brother and three half sisters and used to live in Nottinghamshire with his mother.

A horrible waste of life, the parents must be inconsolable.

I also feel for the drivers that hit the two lads, according to reports people were swerving to avoid them, I'm sure it's something they'll never get over.
    All sweeping statements are wrong.
