the detail is nice and it suits mono very well, just a little bothered by the soft edge on the right, is that from photoshop?

you have? hehe, i bet you're further into it than me then! To be honest ive only gleamed a few bits flicking through it, Most of the stuff i've learnt at college is in there though but I've learnt it in the classroom instead.

very good photo mate. theres a lot of detail in it and the soft edge gives it a nice touch.

What is this book you are reading, is it downloadable or do i have to buy it ??

until last month i knew nothing about phtotography, then i started looking at the artwork section on DF and reading the comments, now i know how to use my camera in basic manual mode, i reckon soon i'll posting some decent pics too

do you have an ebook of it ise438? Id be interested in that too if so, would make stealing parts of it for my coursework easier. I bought it, so I should be legally allowed to have a back up

I was reading the section on lighting - hence the different pictures appeared - I only uploaded what I consider the best - but I had lots of fun shining the torch at different angles etc...

What course are you doing and is it full time ?

    And PM sent..

the course i'm doing is a City & Guilds, its a full year (34 weeks) but only 3 hours per week, with about an hour of after school work required (presume this will go up once the workload is raised)
Its called "certificate in photo image capture" and from what i have seen so far, its pretty much the essentials, how to work, see and think like a photographer.

I had the option to do an AS level or this but that seemed to be studying other artists and the messages within photos, rather than focusing on expressing yourself with photography.

We have to basically study certain techniques and then prove we understand them by either taking shots or finding other peoples shots to the same effect, then at the end of the first 6 months we have to present 10 images on a theme and then the same again for the end of the course.

If you have a basic understanding of how a camera works, the course is much easier but it is catered for the complete noob.

Also, I really like your picture, although I think it is a touch too dark.
