Question What is the DVD writer of choice?

Wasted a load of discs trying to burn some backups on an LG drive, albeit on crap Aone media. So shot myself with crap hardware/consumables before even starting.

What is the writer of choice? I've read that Verbs are the best media although most should work with any good writer.

Pioneer 112 for a IDE setup or Pioneer 212 for a SATA, I prefer the 212 but if you have a IDE setup best go for the 112 unless you want a PCI SATA controller.

They are cheap enough new m8....around £20.

    112 are DVD-RAM read & write
    112D DVD-RAM read only.

Using a Pioneer 111 and Aone disks. No problems as of yet, I've probably done 20-30 backups and all work fine.

From how I understand it, the only way you can burn 360 titles you need to use a Pioneer. I personally don't know anyone that has managed to burn a 360 title on anything other than a 112

Yeah I might order that one if I can be arsed to get a new one. On my current DVD writer a lot of the dvds are only readable on that drive. Not sure if thats a problem cos of the disks or the writer.
