need some software to make self booting pc recovery dvd's

Ok im looking for something to be able to make a self booting recovery dvd/cd for pc's i have built for customers. ive allready tried norton ghost BUT you need to boot the norton dvd first then your backup which is a bit of a pain and slow.

a local pc company uses ghost 7.0 to make self booting recovery dvd's and im guessing this is a very expensive version/shop grade. they built me a pc 2 years ago and used this software which ive found very useful when i needed to re-install everything - just bob the disk in and reboot and 5 mins later hey presto.

does anyone know any other software which may be good and do the same thing. the norton 7 above also compresses the image down too so you can even fit a 20gb onto a single dvd.

Sirens boot cd is a good recovery suite as it has lots of different programs on it

i personally use True Image Profesional, as it makes recovery disks that work without messing with drivers. My setup uses Ultra 360 scsiis in a raid config. norton needed a floppy disk as well to do recoverys but true image, its just a matter of sticking in the disk and away you go

Like above True Image now on v11 .. use it all the time ... Cant beat it - remember to setup secure zone and backup image to this and to dvd for safe backup. This way should a customer not be able to start windows simply press F11 ands boot into secure zone - couple mins jobs done.

I've managed to recover a few machines now using it. I wanna know if I can copy the .tib backup file to a DVD along with the boot loading software so it's all on a single DVD.

I've only managed to boot with the CD you have to create and then restore from an external HD.

Det have a look for Hiren Boot Cd.
It has Ghost, Acronis and others on it.

Yea acronis rox i use it at work install the pc install all the drivers and all you need ot get it stable run acronis make a acronis partition aimage your machine to this partition then any time your pc gets flakey and needs a reinstall press f12 i think it is on bootup like safe mode boot acronis then restore and in 6 mins your back to a fresh system. Awsome

i know everyone is hailing this acronis BUT i really want a backup solution that will make a 1 disk SELF BOOTING recovery disk/dvd. as i said a local ps shop uses a version of ghost 7 which is just for pc shops that you can do such a thing. ive searched all over the net but cannot find this version. im willing to buy the bloody thing lol.

Ghost 7 was just the last true dos version of Ghost before it became bloatware and could be run from a floppy if needed. If you're still looking PM me and i can point you in the right direction mate

Have you thought about making an unattended install disk. Then it will work on more than 1 PC. Check out h**p://unattended.msfn.org/

I have done this for XP with all the updates and it also self installs a load of apps.

But if you just want a straight forward disk image I would also go for Acronis.
