    Info Hypothetical Question

It would seem most of my thinking is done in the car! Anyway...

(Note - hypothetical questions not permitted in Legal Section, hence the D&D)

Driving home one night I started pondering legal implications of using a fictional characters name. More specifically, Harry Potter's.

What if my name was Harry Potter, and I wanted to write a book about, I dunno, my adventures in the supermarket.

Would I be permitted to call this book "Harry Potter's Supermarket Surprise"? If not, why not? Can the company who own the trademark for Mr. Potter's books/movies also claim copyright to my own name?

    Discuss!

I guess if you were called Harry Potter before the books and you didn't write about being a little wizard with a couple of mates you'd be ok.

    Attention Re: Hypothetical Question

    Hey

We have a Legal Section for a reason. Just because it doesn't serve your needs, doesn't mean you can post it on the open board, where it will attract all answers of conjecture and points of view, plus some correct answers I'm sure.

It serves no purpose to post hypotheticals here and will not be tolerated.

Please anyone else, no posting of hypothetical Legal questions.
