Wii Gamecube backups on an unmodified Wii...

Just stumbled across this when reading some articles online. It's been out for months! I thought I might have seen something on here about it (Maybe i've missed it?) :

There's a wealth of really excellent home brew material out there for the GameCube, but how do you get it to run on your happening console? Our GameCube/Wii SD Media Launcher has the answer...

With GameCube/Wii SD Media Launcher, you can run all your home brew Cube software on an unmodified GameCube, or on a Nintendo Wii in GameCube Mode. All you need to do is download the program of your choice from one of the many web pages dedicated to amateur programming on the Cube (Google for 'GameCube home brew' to find dozens of sites). Drag and drop it onto the 1GB SD card supplied with the Media Launcher, then plug it into your Wii or GameCube. Launch the application CD on your console and the home brew program is run from there. Easy!

Everything you need is in the box. The pack includes a software CD, 1GB high-speed SD card, a USB SD card adapter and an SD media adapter to fit in your Cube's memory card slot.

Oooooh. Can this not be made using you're own SD card? Shame if not

I remember reading about this a while back, but if you want to play cube backups, you may as well mod your wii and be able to play all backups...but i suppose its handy for those that dont want to open up their wii's

Available to order from : 2007/03/04 - That's why I am surprised it has not been on here previously!

Looks like a Datel product from the packaging. I wonder if the new Freeloader can do this that I have for the Wii?

    It is Datel...

I have a massive collection of NTSC (original) Cube games, I wish they would add the code to WiiFree so I could play them I have to use my good old freeloader...

Thats woudl be good! I have a host of Cube games that coudl utilise this. I am not keen to mod my Wii in a hardware way at the moment due to the need of having two Cubes (no matter what POT settign fussy on DVD's and not consitant)

So having this will enable so to get rid of all 4 of my Game Cubes in one go!

YEAH, i'll look into this, i think £25 is worth a punt!

    Cheers....Q

Where does it state that it will run gamecube backups?? Homebrew and playing isos are to differant things. I had a unmodded gamecube and the only way you could play backups on it was by doing a disc swap on GCOS, it worked just like the psx diskswap..it stops the disk, you open flap and swap..i very much doubt this will run on wii because as soon as you eject the disk, the laser will be reset..feel free to prove me wrong though

it has been on here before, it was posted before the proper wii hacks came out.

It works on the GCOS hacks i think, ie a softmod. The SD card doesnt go in the Wii's SD slot, it goes in a GC memory card with an SD slot in it. You can make one with an old sd card reader and gc mem card.

Homebrew is a posh way of saying '.iso' mate as well as some naff apps people make. Once they have exploited the boot code then they can make backups work.

i thought this was the same as the GeckoSD and an Action Reply disk? Then u can boot GCOS and off you go? Maybe i'm wrong and the wii doesn't except this method, but I'm sure the GC allowed this softmod
    I'm new to this

fair enuff, but the PS3 didn't need to be hacked or anything for that to happen, it can be done out of the box! So it's not quite the same as homebrew on other consoles, where its not meant to be run at all.

I thought that too, it doesn't allow you to play backups, only files that fit on the sd card
