Question Splitters and installation help plz...

    Hi all,

I currently have a V1rG1n setup with a tv box downstairs and broadband upstairs.

I plan to put another box into my other room. I am in the process of buying some CF100, cable, f connectors, and a 4 way splitter to complete this task. (also a wall socket but might do away with this as ive heard it lowers signal strength)

I think with the current setup both feeds come from the box on the outside wall (so i take it, it has a 2 way splitter as std).
Both feeds are using a isolator called a VC308 as they come into the house before plugging into the said kit.

Will i need another VC308 for the tv upstairs? Does this VC308 stop signal fluxes i take it? Also the 4 way splitter im buying, is it best to put upstairs so it splits the broadband and then i can feed the new box off it, or do i replace the box on the wall on the outside of the house with this? (im worried of signal strength loss if i split off an already split box)

Please let me know your expert thoughts on this as im a newbie to this, but am more proficient in other areas (psp/pc related).

Many thanks in advance for reading this post, and even more if you reply to it.......with something useful

    You have a few options

WHITE BOX with isolator to 4 way splitter, 2 for box and one for internet.... you may lose signal so another way is this

white box with isolator to 2 way splitter, one to the internet, and the other to a dual signal booster, plug this in and u have two outputs.

another option is white box with isolator to 4 way splitter, one to internet, the other two to box but prior to going into box's go through a booster

Its up to you, personally I'd go for the dual signal booster if u have signal problems, there is one like the slx from argos available somewhere in the world

cheapest way to try would be the first option, and then if u losing signal think of the other options

    Thanks for the reply.

I'm struggling a little to understand though, when you mention white box do you mean the bit outside my house? If so do i removed the thing that connects all the cables together out there and just put a 4 way splitter there, then just use those VC308's before every box i plumb in (inc boradband)?

Sorry for sounding thick, but i just dnt wanna blow anything up.

Finally do ou have a link for these boosters, i did a quick google and argos search but drawn a blank.

    Thanks again.

I'm talking about the white box inside the house, maybe its different where u live,

make sure the isolator is before any splits and you will be fine.
