Replace Keyvault Unbans Xbox 360

Legueux of gx-mod.com informed us that Zouzzz managed to unban his Xbox 360 console from LIVE on their forums.
However it's not something that everyone out there can do (yet) as you'll need your CPU key (via Hypervisor Exploit and if you got banned it means you're on the latest kernel so you'll need to perform the 'Timing Attack' to downgrade first). You'll also need all the tools to read/flash your Xbox 360 NAND (with the Infectus chip for example).

Here are the things he tried:
* downgrade banned 5787 PAL to 4532 NTSC U, updated again to 5787 via HD. Still banned.
* downgrade banned 5787 PAL to 1888 PAL, updated again to 5787 via HD. Still banned.
* Patched 1888 PAL dump with the last number of the Xbox 360 serial in the keyvault (location A0 to AB) changed. Still banned.
* Patched 1888 PAL dump with the all the numbers of the Xbox 360 serial in the keyvault changed. Still banned.
* Replaced keyvault in the 1888 dump of the banned console with keyvault of an unbanned console. Connected to LIVE OK, updated to latest kernel OK, still connects fine on LIVE.

It's a bit like the Xbox1 EEPROM 'hack' ... except that (at least for now) it's much harder to perform yourself on Xbox360.

Good that a way has been found to unban, this will save people buying a new 360 but wont it lead microsoft into trying new methods of banning? like....Banning your ip address. Oh and another thing if you use a keyvault of an unbanned console and one gets banned wont they both get banned?

I think the next logical step in banning for Microsoft would be the gamer account.

I think that would be overly harsh on people who have inadvertently purchased a used console that has already been banned/modded, which is probably one of the reasons why they don't do it now.

Some people might be able to get a "spare" console to "borrow" the keyvault from. But for average users, your gonna have to buy a new one and maybe return it.

Yes, this will probably unban the console, but isn't everyone forgetting about what happened with the old XBOX??

As soon as they realise that there are 2 unbanned consoles with the EXACT SAME serial no/console id, both consoles will be banned!

So unless one console will NEVER, EVER be on LIVE at the same time as the other one, its pretty useless!

For instance i got pals who dont use live and never will, so if i was banned, no skin of their nose letting me use their key.

I'm very surprised someone from within Microsoft hasn't yet leaked the method they're using to ban. They've kept the info very tight thus far, gotta respect them for that.
