Yeah I tried this on my first 360 didn't do fuck all though still ended up with the ROD - That one had replacement (better) fans in it as well

I have done this mod and it helped in my situation.

I had problems playing Call of Duty 2 after about an hour of game play it would not load the next level or if I went back too the start menu the game would not load at all

. The only way round this at the time was to turn my 360 off for an hour or so to let it cool down

.

After doing the mod I could play for as long as I liked. It seems that in my case the GPU heat sink was heating up the DVD drive (sammy ms28) and cause it to not read discs but after the mod it plays fine
