GTA IV: No New Exclusive 360 Content - EU Release April 25th?

Contrary to widespread reports, Rockstar has told Next-Gen that there has been no announcement regarding additional exclusive Grand Theft Auto IV content for Microsoft's Xbox 360.

A Rockstar rep told Next-Gen Wednesday that the content in question is merely the second of the two previously announced pieces of episodic content making their way to Xbox 360. While both pieces of episodic content were initially scheduled to hit Xbox 360 in Take-Two's fiscal 2008, the second piece of content will now be available in fiscal 2009, a delay presumably brought about by the later than expected release of the highly anticipated title, which slipped from a planned 2007 debut to a 2008 fiscal second quarter (February 1 - April 30) release.

MCV understands that Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto IV will NOT be released in March as expected - and will in fact be held back until the last week in April.
Sources close to the game's publisher have told MCV that the title's UK release will miss the Easter period entirely, and will instead go on sale in the final week of Rockstar parent Take 2's second financial quarter.

A Rockstar spokesperson told MCV that the publisher didn't comment on 'rumour and speculation'.

Regarding the Exclusive content on 360. does that mean PS3 isnt getting anything? or is the PS3 getting different EXCUSIVE content. Sony = A-missions+extra , Microsoft = B-missions+extra. Is it that kinda thing?

The trouble is, what happens if fans aren't happy witht eh finished product when it's released? By delaying the release they've just got the fans wore worked up about finally getting the damn thing, that maybe they'll expect too much and not get it...

Probably on my own there though. Didnt think it offered anything new to the franchise and got very quickly bored with it.

I just hope this is more than just a graphical update to the same game after all this waiting.

In regards to the release im glad its April. Got loads of games to play at the moment and April is always a bit of a shit month for games.

Im still not sure what that new is actually telling us but ive read elsewhere that there will be 2 exclusive addons in 2008 and a further 2 in 2009. This is additional to downloads that will be available on both machines.
I think the delay was mainly to avoild Halo3's release, nothing to do with the PS3 that M$ fanboys like to say it is. April is usually when new games start appearing after the post Christmas drought.

Pish! So what they are saying is that they haven't issued a press statement that says there will be exclusive content for the 360. That basically means that there may, or may not, be exclusive content.

dont hold your breath mate, this game still streams off dvd and as such the same could happen, of course the 360 and PS3 have A LOT more ram this time so it should hopefully be fine.
The PS3 version should have to ability to install a huge chuck of the game to the HDD anyway which should remove the problem altogether and also save the machine from PS2 GTA laser death.

Very unlikely it will suffer from these sort of issues. On the PS2 there was so much against it - slow transfers from disk, slower CPU to deal with decompression etc. Have you played Test Drive Unlimited. There is no discernable popup in that and thats an entire island - and a first generation game. With the extra memory on the 360 and the 360's gfx card (Same goes for the PS3) there is no reason why there will be popup issues.

If there is then they need to fire their developers!
