Default Which of these tyres are the best?

After some new tyres for a 04 Focus Ghia 1.8 TDCi.

Had some Goodyear on and they have worn down in less that 6months. A guy at Kwik Fit told me that I won't get much mileage out of tyres on a Focus Deisel as they are heavy and known for tyre wear. Does anyone know if this is true?

Anywhere the tyres which I have been given quotes on are as follows.

    Michelin Energy 3a can 2 for £120

    or

    Pirelli P6000 or P6 can get 2 for £95

Which one out of the 2 would you recommend?

    Any help appreciated!!!

Me got myself Goodyear F1's on the front which although wear quickly, are fairly quiet. Done nearly 20,000 miles on them and I should be able to get another 10k if im careful with my driving.

to be honest though, to me its all the same shit with different packaging

you need to look at the load wearing of tyres also
some "heavier" cars need a slightly higher rateing

i got sum bauhaus summats on mine (2.0 diesel xafira) cost me 120 for 2 fitted and balanced

    click on this url
    and enter ya details

    Hi mate

First of all do not believe anything kwik fit tells you! They are infamous for spouting bullshit.

Personally I would go for the Pirelli's. I have them on my car and they are very good.

Why don't you look at Falken and Toyo tyre's. They are also very good and are not as expensive as some of the more well known brands.

There's a couple of good tyre sites on the internet. You buy the tyres and they send them out to you. All you have to do is drive to a tyre fitting centre and get them to fit the tyres. I think a tyre costs on average £6 to fit but the money you will save by buying on the internet will be about 20% so it's well worth it. here's the sites:

    http://www.tyre-shopper.co.uk/
    http://www.blackcircles.com/maxtyreshop/index.html
    http://ssl.delti.com/mytires/start.html
    http://www.ctyres.co.uk/tyres/tyres.html

My tyres is my favourite but you might get a better deal elsewhere. Blackcircles don't seem to do it for me but you might be different.

And there is a big difference in tyres despite what people tell you. My tip is stay away from Bridgestones because they are not as good as what they claim.
I understand and accept that some people hold opinions that are different to my own. Living in a free and democratic society, I fully embrace and respect their right to be wrong.

I agree with Argyll. I got 4 x Continental Premium Contact for £55 each (inc fitting) from tyre-shopper.co.uk which was around £30 cheaper than kwik fit.

The Focus TDCI is not heavy on tyres.I Got to 20000 miles on the originals on mine, and only changed them as i was going abroad. got new ones fitted to save me getting it done in France.Have had Kumos KH15s on since December last year and there is loads of life left in them.As for grip and handling, they are good as we don't have salt and grit on the roads here so i know they stick well.
