sony dsc55 delay

Hello there got our lass a dsc 55 for her birthday and as much as we both like the camera we are both getting really anoid with the delay you get when taking a picture which isnt too badf for normal pictures but when we are trying to get shots at that precise moment we end up missing the kids looking and so on. Is there a specific setting it should be on to speed it up

auto should give you reasonable shutter speeds, its never quite instant with compact cameras but even my age old Sony DSC V1 was ok, seems slow as hell now im used to a DSLR though.

Cheers bud! will give it a go but think its time to get some pennies together and make the change to dslr
