Default Access to un-shared files on a network

I have what is now an ex-friend who has files we both worked on which could be worth some money but he has deleted my copies from my laptop and then stopped me access his share to get a copy, Is there a way i can get them??

We are both on the same network in the office, legally the files belong to the two of us, but only he has them.

    Does anyone have any ideas???

slip him some rohypnol (sp??) take his HDD, get the files onto your laptop and make SEVERAL backups!!

then delete his ENTIRE HDD, put it back and stick a dildo up his ass before he wakes up!

    works every time!

As for getting files off an unshared network this might help.

However my method is foll proof!

Think you are out of luck unless you know the network admin, assuming the share is on a server, or wait till he goes for lunch, crack the SAM database on his laptop using Hirens Boot CD and then pillage everything you want with the newly reset admin password on the laptop and jobs a good un.

What operating systems are you using.
Are the files kept on the server or his local machne.
Do you have access to his machine.
Can you run a restorer program to retrieve the files from your PC.
Do you have any knowledge of the network.
Is he plugged into a Switch or a Hub (if switch could you plug a hub between him and the switch)
Google Cain and Abel or even better Backtrack

    What he said ^^^^^

Need more info. Are the files on a server? Is it backed up? If so you could request a restore from your admins and they'll put it somewhere you have access too.

If you are on a domain then it revolves around you sweet talking the admins.

This could be your best option, problem is the more you use the laptop the less chance this is going to be possible. If you can find one that runs from a CD or USB drive that would be even better. You might be able to find a WindowsPE disc with file recovery programs included.

    Something like Hiren's BootCD 9.3

Always worth having a recovery CD hanging round you never know when you might need it.

easiest solution is to go to HR and get them to sort out access to the files. All this, crack his password talk will only land you in trouble.

Maybe, if the laptop is somehow set to boot from a floppy or cd then you could try ghostin the hard disk when he's out to lunch.

A Key logger? (find his password then use his crentials to access the share)
    or
http://minipe.org/ boot live when he;s off one day and use a tool like disk forensics
    or possibly
    http://www.remote-exploit.org/backtrack.html
    or
If your both using company machines then it's likely the administrator passwords are the same or similar.. might be able to use administrator credentials to access the share

If the work was created in work time on work premises with the work pcs, would your contract of employment not stipulate the work is actually property of your employer?

there's a recovery dvd in the downloads section. you might be able to restore the files off your computer if they've not been saved over with that...

how has he stopped you accessing them has he just unshared his files? if he's left your account or you know the administrator password for his account you should be able to access his hidden share which he won't have removed

\\<his pc name or ip address here>\c$

bung that in your address bar and hit enter...
