Stuttering on dvix playback

hi guys when i first got the new update streaming seemed to be ok but now after about one min or so it starts stuttering and then stops saying the file is not supported this happens wired or wireless

but if i stick it on a hard drive and play from there its fine any ideas or network tweaks i could try?

Does the file have a packed bitstream?? If so you could try unpacking it with MPEG4 Modifier available here. http://www.moitah.net/

It's because the 360 sucks at DIVX

When standalone players will play anything you throw at them and the 360 won't play the first one I give it unless you lower the resolution to 640 x 480 on VGA output then that just about says it all.

Get a £30 DIVX unit and have done with it.

You want a system you can just insert the disc and go, not log into live, download an update, adjust the screen display and then watch it.

I've found the DivX update works fine with all the files I've thrown at it (apart from off my digital camera) and they look better than on my old XBox via XBMC.

I'm guessing the problem is on all the files you try? I often get connection issues to my 360, a restart of the router seem's to sort the problem.

Apart from that, if DivX is essential you might be better off, as Gel says to get a cheap unit or maybe even an old XBox 1 with XBMC or similar.

I've never had any problems with streaming divx, but both PC and 360 are wired.

sounds like a network problem, if it's ok of a HDD. As djad said - reboot your router and see if it helps. Have you got any other pcs using the internet at the same time?

tried wired and wireless like i said the divx was fine to begin with with try a router reboot (its the free o2 one)

Can you plug a USB drive into the 360 to play divx files? I tried the other night but could not access the drive on the dashboard in movies only photo's? Do you have to manually d/l the Divx patch?

After the main dashupdate, I went to launch a DivX from my PC, it then just popped up saying I needed an additional update, which it then automatically got, works a treat.

I tried with no joy, I think the drive has to be formatted in a certain way as I have friends who managed to get it working ok, from USB Hard Drive.

It must need formatting in a certain way then like DJ said... i'll try and find some time over the weekend to try it. Pub tonight (and sat and sun) and in between I need to get to level 55 in COD4 lol

I only use my USB pendrives now for divx watching works superb, never had a moments lag or stutter. Download me weekends viewing and stick em in.
