    Serious iPod Docking Stations

Im after getting a docking station for my iPod so i can blare out the tunes in a room of my choice!

What are people experiences and which ones should i avoid? Ive heard that the Bose ones are good but ive not really heard about any others

Dont really mind how much it costs as long as im getting something extra for the extra cash over and above something else

    Suggestions and help appreciated

Do you mean the things with speakers? Been looking at them myself. Currys, Dixons and those kind of place's have quite a big selection.

Well I bought my old man the iPod HiFi and it looks and sounds the nuts. Good heavy bass and crisp treble. You can turn it up and easily use it for a small party at your house. My brother bought my dad the Bose Soundock for round the pool at his house in Cyprus and it also has great sound. It's much more compact, lighter and easier to move around.

Both have remote controls for volume and track jumping. Both are extremely simple to set up and use. Both are mains or battery powered (Bose have only just brought this feature out).

Personally I prefer the look (especially if you take off the speaker grille/cover) and sound of the iPod HiFi.

I dunno mate, I've been to Finchers, and at night when the old prozzie up top starts getting banged things start to get loud !

Also with all the crack heads in his block, they make a fair bit of noise, falling down the stairs etc.

I have a couple of docks going spare that i'm trying to offload but they will not be as good as the Bose ones.

I have a Nano one I paid £70 for from HMV last year (1st edition Nano), works nice and fold up for a travel dock. Not much base but ideal for Kitchen or what not.

I also have a pioneer docking station which plug's into any amp/tv but it's speakerless. It does have a remote though. That cost me £80

Probably not what your looking for but there is a massive selection kicking about. I now have a cable linked straight into my Pioneer amp and I can control it through the amps control. If it wasn't for that i'd probably pick Bose
They do a smaller travel Bose one now that i've seen advertised.

I also was after buying a speaker dock, but I wanted a cheap but still decent one...

I know the more pricey ones, like the Apple one Bose ARE the best, but too pricey for my needs. Was looking at a JBL On Stage Micro. About £50 from Amazon.

Bose seems to be favourite. but there are some equally as good from names you may not have heard of. One was rated higher than the Bose in last years Ipod Buyers Guide.

    This may help too:

Im not really too bothered about portability that much, Its only ever gonna be in my house so thats not an issue. I have read that the Bose ones are the best sounding too............. That Apple one that RR posted looks nice tho, I think ill have a wander to my local high street store and get them to let me listen and then come home and order one online!!

ant3b where did you get them to test em? Any particular shop?

I can vouch for these ones, cheap as chips Amazon.co.uk: IDS-01-N-S Silver Metallic Speakers and Docking Station for iPod and Other MP3 Players: Electronics & Photo

Lot's of base in them too!! Will take all iPods and can take other sources for input. I'm using them as my Laptop speakers right now listening to DF radio

The link is for the Silver ones but they do all colours in them.

I got a klipsch igroove from amazon for at the time 89.99 its gone up to 99.99 now but its still reduced from 149.99.

Its absolutely brilliant and comparable to the bose which my brother has.

I would just read up on a few different reviews and make the choice
