    Hi mate,
They do suffer from the injectors loosing communication with the PCM, they can quite easily have the correction factors Reprogrammed using the dealers IDS system.

Also have a listen to the engine as the alternator belt tensioners can be noisey, this sounds like a deep thudding/drumming from under the bonnet.

Also have a listen when starting it from cold if it sounds like it had a diesel knock it will more than likely be the dual-mass fly wheel as these are prone to wear at pretty high mileage.

And finally the rear subframe bushes split, again not a major repair just have a quick look or listen for any knocks from the back.

If you need anymore info drop me an email as i'm a technician at a ford dealer.
    Cheers, Matt

i used to deliver these cars for a car hire company and they had several with 100k + and according to the mechanics probably one of the most reliable-thought of a mazda 6 diesel, very impressive!

another known problem is the rear brake pistons siezing... just make sure the handbrake works.
i have a 01 reg mondeo TDCi and like it very much.. never had any serious problems and its done 130k already...

theres a clutch kit avalible now so you dont need to pay dealer prices same with the rear subframe.
the injectors can go blind (pre heat light will flash and loss of power)but should be ok with a recode otherwise buy recons and get them coded as my local ford dealer only fit in sets of four £1000 ! wankers

banging from the rear (inset you own joke here ) can also be caused by the armoured handbrake cables coming loose from there mounts and hitting the subframe

knocking from the front is the droplinks and is a common fault however is cheap and easy to fix

i have had loads of these cars and cant recommend them highly enough there cheap to buy cheap to run roomy and drive fantastic

if you are getting a diesl make sure you get a 130bhp model

press and hold the lock button for more thean three seconds and all the windows will close aswell as setting the alarm .unlock will switchg alarm off and wind them all down too.

airbag light can come on due to bad connection under driver pass seat simply unplug and refit should cure it

also mine eats tyres but i do drive it like a loony as it handles so good puts the wife 3 series to shame......driving machine my arse !

    good luck

You won't go far wrong with one of these m8, Ford have come on in leaps and bounds after a bit of a sticky patch in the early 90's and piss all over their rivals now.
If you haven't driven the 130bhp model then you will be pleasently surprised on how well these go, along with a nice firm drive and plenty of room I can't fault them m8.
