    Default Buying iPhone from the states

    Im off to NY in March and was wondering if anyone could advise on if i can get an iphone that will work with a UK sim, and if so what i need to look for and where from, etc ????

    You need to read up, it is all changing at the moment, 1.1.2 cannot be unlocked at the moment without a hardware solution, but 1.1.3 is now out and should be hackable...!

    By march you should be able to get is sorted.

    I have a 1.1.2 with hardware mod you can have for £320 delivered if you want it...

    Zippeyrude, do a comparison on price, it'll cost a little less in the States but will be no more usable, if you have to pay customs and VAT you'll probably be worse off!

    ok, cheers for the info. i have tried to read up on this but there is just sooooo much going on and to take in so im grateful for the info.

    might look into a uk based one then.

    what is the crack with models due to be released later this year?

    Just rumours I'm afraid, maybe 3G and bigger memory, plenty of life left in the current model, lots of money in R & D to recoup as yet.
