Default Weight Watchers - It Really Works

I'm a big bloke. Some say fat.

I've tried every diet, my biggest success was 4 yrs ago with the Atkins plan. I went from 21 1/2 stone down to 17 stone in 12 months. However over the last 3 years it all came back on. It really didn't help living most of my time in the USA - food is so accessible and cheap. AND GOOD!

However I moved to Baltimore a couple of weeks ago and now live with my friends who are health nuts (albeit the biggest smokers I've ever seen if that makes any sense?)

They persuaded me to weigh myself as they said i looked like I had put on a lot of weight since I last saw them. I weighed in at 297 lbs !! (I thought I was around 270)

This was a huge shock and as I'm getting married on April 12th this year it gave me the finality that I need to do something now - and correctly (i.e. healthily with no gimmicks)

My friends swear by Weight Watchers. I always saw that plan as what old wives went on. Some dingy room in the local community center - reminiscent of fat Fighters on Little Britain. They proved me wrong. Very wrong.

I started on a plan that gives me 25 points a day. If you don't know what weight watchers points are look it up.

I have now been on weight watchers for 9 days. I do not feel hungry, I have eaten good foods i.e. steak and pasta and drank the odd pint of beer. The only difference I have felt in the food was the portions and the fact that when my points ran out I could only eat vegetables and drink water.

How do I feel 9 days later ?

I have noticed three major things that have changed for me.

    1. The weight. Holy fuck - as of this morning I have lost 18 lbs ! - Yes I know that the bulk of that is probably water and junk in my body - but better out than in surely ? - thats almost 1 1/2 stone !

    2. Energy. I suddenly feel like I have stacks of energy. My sleeping has become much better and I feel like my entire body has received a boost of healthy clean energy.

    3. Smoking effects. For the first time in years I feel the negative effects of smoking. I go through a pack a day and it's never really bothered me. Now all of a sudden I'm wheezing and get out of breath much faster than I did before. I hack in the morning and cough through the day. My next mission is to quit.

This is a plan I am definably going to stick to. I'm going to get down to 270 lbs then I will start the local gym (21st century Leisure in Longport if any Stokies want to go to a fantastic gym - none of that Esporta bollocks) The owners are Nick and Deb and are great people.

My target weight is 220lbs and I want to quit smoking this year as well as getting a lot of exercise and activity in.

This type of program needs will power. It's very easy to give this kind of thing up and get bored however I believe if i stick to it by the wedding i will be around 240 lbs and much healthier. By the end of the year I hope to be in the best shape of my life.

I will report back to give you an update - I hope this can inspire someone else to do the same.

    Wish me luck !

Fact: Most men carry their excess weight around their middle.
Research proves that storing fat around the stomach is a major health hazard - leaving you vulnerable to heart disease and high blood pressure. It's not sexy and it causes unpleasant side effects like snoring, bad skin and backache
yup thats me 16st 11lb @ 5ft 11in (not sure about snoring lol dont wake me up)

    Spoiler:

fu(k it i give it a go newly single so should really lol think thou living on own bitch for doing meals lol ( i am not bad cook thou)

eeeh look at that i am 55 pound lighter already lol fooking good diet this

Everything rap just said sounds just like me apart from the getting married bit.

At the moment I am touching 20 stone myself on a 6ft 1inch frame, to be honest
most of it like most men is around the waist area.

Its just piled on me over the last few years, and people have noticed it, infact
the friends and family call me either shrek or the sugar puff monster lol

I will look into the weight watchers thing and give it some thought.

    Good post by the way.

Christ Rap, that sounds really bloody good. I went from 22 to 17 on Atkins about 3 years ago, felt great, but its all come back on again. Thanks to the new GF I've lost a few pounds already this year through the increased "exercise", but I'm thinking maybe I should properly try and lose weight this year. Please keep writing about your progress, especially around how hungry you feel, because for me I think the main problem with my eating is in my head, thinking I am hungry when I am not. And therefore eating when I shouldn't. I've managed to kick the "late night snack", but even that was a challenge!

    Most deffiantely does work.

My mum started it about 8 months or so ago now.

She just hit the 3 stone barrier and very pleased with herself.

Its not easy at all tho, as i find when you try and cut anything out at all... the first thing you crave is what you've just said you wont eat.

*Spence starts weight watchers program as of 10:16... go go go.

    Sounds like a hoot.

It's bizarre that people are so reluctant to eat well (myself included) as we can see from your post that when you cut the shit out, you feel a hundred times better.

    Bring out the scales
