Bugger, Have i missed the closing date?
I just wanted to stick my tuppenceworth in to this as a complete photo newbie because the no photoshop rule seems to be there to make it "fairer" for people like me.
As someone that's new to this the bottom line for me is: I want to get better.
That means composing the shot, taking the shot, working the camera AND all the post image processing/photoshop stuff. As someone said already - barely any image that looks good enough to use for anything has not been touched up in some way and I want to get to the standard where my photos would be good enough to be framed up and used. So it's very much part of the process.
The comp is a good way of incentivising people to submit quality shots where they would not otherwise have bothered and draws my attention to the techniques, ideas and quality that is possible with a photograph.
Sure, I could look these things up online, but the real benefit is that the photographer is on here, a forum on which I'm a member, and if I wanted more detail on how the shot was created (I hope!) he would tell me.
For example, this month I liked Bodman's strawberries so much that I went and found out how it's done and learned to use the history brush as a result. That wouldn't have happened if his shot had been disallowed.
As far as I'm concerned as a newbie to all this, I'd be quite happy that PS be allowed and I'd be happy to lose and continue to lose while learning and progressing towards the shots that are good enough to win.
Lets bring back the word Rad......
